MBTIThe Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator |
|
You may have heard of the MBTI, or the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator, or Personality Type. The MBTI is the most popular and widely used personality tool in the world. It is used by colleges, corporations, businesses, churches and more to help people understand their own personality type and its implications for many things including leadership styles, career interests, team building, relationship building, and spirituality issues and many more. There is no good or bad personality type-just different ones, each with its unique gifts. Each personality type perceives reality and arrives at decisions and conclusions in a slightly different way than the others. The important thing is to understand your type and the type of others in your immediate community. Taking the MBTI is a wonderful adventure in self-discovery. You can learn things about yourself and others that can be very helpful for communication and relationship growth. You will grow to appreciate the wonderful, unique miracle God created you to be. The MBTI is used to help individuals determine their basic personality type based on preferences in four different areas or scales of personality. It's a wonderful tool for self-discovery and how we relate to others. THE FOUR SCALES: What is your preferred world? What Energizes You? How do you primarily perceive reality? What mechanism do you employ to make decisions? How do you orient to the outside world? Each person has a preference to use one over the other in each category. Your four preferences helps determine your personality type. For example I am an INFP (introverted, intuitive, feeling, perceiving) Each individual preference and the dynamics between the individual preferences can have a myriad of implications for my personality. My type partially determines my preferred leadership style, the way I interact with people, what excites me; how I prefer to pray, read the scripture, do Bible Study, preach sermons, etc. Once your type is established it can be very helpful in exploring everything from career interests, interpersonal dynamics, team building, leadership style to spirituality issues and much more! It can be a very helpful tool for pastors, staffs, councils and individuals. Pastor Joe Holub is authorized to administer
